PEPE
ROBLES TRUMPET Captivated
by Louis Armstrong, Jabbo Smith and the best jazzmen of the 20s, he
has been one of the pioneers of the purest traditional jazz in
Argentina since the 60s. He continues in the same vein in Spain,
where he has lived since 1994. |
NEW
ORLEANS BLUE STOMPERS
became known in Barcelona in the spring of 1995 as host group for
the "Hivernacle" jazz nights at Ciutadella park. Since
then it has performed with great success all over Spain in numerous
concerts and festivals. Worthy of note are their performances at the
prestigious festivals of Vitoria, San Sebastian, Palma, Andorra,
Perelada and Barcelona (Palau de la Música, in the year
2000). In 1998, five members of this group won first prize at the
Saint Raphaël "New Orleans" International Jazz
Competition (France). With the participation of the trumpeter Ricard
Gili, the New Orleans Blue Stompers have recorded a CD entitled "The
musical story of Louis Armstrong" (Blue Moon, 2001). The
spontaneity with which they recreate the music of Louis Armstrong,
King Oliver, Kid Ory and other legendary musicians of the early days
of jazz, makes them one of the best groups devoted to the most
genuine New Orleans style. Their repertoire is typical of New
Orleans jazz: blues, gospel, marches and various themes, from the
most famous to the least well known. Today, the New Orleans Blue
Stompers offer the warmth of their jazz for audiences to enjoy as
much as they do themselves.
NEW
ORLEANS BLUE STOMPERS
often has special collaboration from Ricard Gili.
